American Alloy began producing toy soldier which were copies of Tommy Toy figures without the underbase markings around 1939. Production halted at the start of World War II with the impounding of 30 tons of lead being delivered to the company. Production restarted after the war with a transition to the Toy Creation label around 1946.
American Alloy/Toy Creations Gallery
Medical figures produced by American Alloy and, later, Toy Creations, include a wounded soldier and doctor figure copied from Tommy Toys. The later Toy Creation figures can sometimes be distinguished from the American Alloy phase by the presence of a copper-colored underbase. Otherwise, they are difficult to tell apart based on time of production. A side-by-side comparison of the Tommy Toy and American Alloy/Toy Creation wounded figure is shown below.
