Cherilea

Brunley and Blackpool, 1946-1978

Cherilea was a British toy company founded in 1947 by Wilfred Cherrington and a Mr Leaver after Cherrington left John Hill and Co. Although the company’s name is often associated with London, where Johillco was based, Cherilea was primarily located in Blackpool and Burnley, not London. It initially produced lead toy figures but quickly expanded into producing soft plastic figures from molds originally used for lead toys and later developed new plastic figures. The company continued until 1978 when its tooling was sold.

Cherilea did not produce a large number of medical figures although there boxed set of US Army figures is fairly unique for including two khaki clad nurses.
