Tommy Toys

A short-lived toy soldier company.

Tommy Toy was one of the smaller producers of dimestore figures that never managed to really get off the ground. The first soldiers were produced around mid-to-late 1937 and the company went out of business in less than 2 years. The factory was ultimately sold to Barclay. Of note, they also produced a set of figures based off of nursery rhymes such as Little Bo Peep, Jack & Jill, Puss in Boots, and others.

The medical figures produced by Tommy Toy include a doctor, nurse, wounded figure in a sling, and a stretcher bearer (not shown…still looking). While other manufacturers copied their figures, the bases of original figures should contain the company name as shown below. Four of their thirteen basic figures were medical related.
