Wend-al was a British company founded by Edgar Kehoe in 1946 that produced high-quality aluminium toy soldiers in Blandford. Kehoe was inspired by the French company Quiraluand secured a deal to use their moulds, eventually creating its own ranges and becoming a world-renowned toy maker. Technically, they did not use hollowcasting but produced a similar style of soldier. The company’s success was based on using lighter, stronger, solid aluminium instead of lead, though its production eventually declined with the rise of cheaper plastic toy manufacturing.

Wend-Al did not produce many medical figures although their mule stretcher transport does have great visual appeal.
